"I was first introduced to Steven Sylvester through UK Sport.  In setting up a Young Players of Distinction (YPD) programme, World Snooker was looking to provide the best help and advice that was available for an elite group of potential champions. Six players took part in the inaugural YPD programme in 2000, and four are currently ranked in the Worlds top-8 in the professional game, having won almost all of the major titles in the game, including the World championship in 2005. Success in an individual sport requires more than ability alone, and the mental approach that was instilled in the players at that early stage has in no small way played a part in their achievements."
